Series 1 was built from 1945 - 1947, Series 2 followed this until 1949. The Series 2 was the most popular model built and was a great improvement on Series 1. The fuel pump was up-rated giving extra power and drum brakes were added which was much better than the transmission brake of series 1. There were 2 types of Series 2, the Series 2 Mark 1 and Series 2 Mark 2. The Mark 2 which also applied to later Series 1's were known as Contractors models. They were fitted with a high speed top gear, lights and winches. Series 3 production started in 1949 with major changes. A bigger tractor with a 6 speed gearbox, further improved power output and the engine rotation was reversed to eliminate the Marshall bounce, this made it now dance a little from side to side on the front on tick over. Series 3a was introduced in 1953 and stopped in 1957. In an attempt to boost the sale figures it was turned out in bright orange which did not go down too well with many past Marshall customers, some were return to Gainsborough to be re sprayed Marshall green. With further power output this was a very lively tractor with a now pressurised radiator and water system and split chimney. Most 3a's were exported and a high number of them have found their way back home to Britain.
