Located in sandbach England.
It's a fantastic example and in first class working order, it has a wonderful documented history attached to it
The tractor was purchased new in August 1948 by Charles Turney of Market Harborough ( has brown log book )
It was then sold to TT Boughton & Sons Ltd of Amersham Comman, Buckinghamshire on 7th January 1949
John Boughton couldn't get hold of a new Marshall as they were very sought after and were 'the best thing for thrashing', so he had to settle for second hand
John Boughton put the tractor through his workshops and had fitted a GP18 Boughton winch
Now with the drum, baler and sometimes chaff cutter fitted to the back the tractor was very difficult to steer uphill, so an extra counterbalance was fastened to the underside of the front axle in an attempt to combat the problem.
A vacuum brake was fitted to all their thrashing sets and a vacuum pump was also fitted to the tractor to aid braking going downhill
Boughtons were very big in steam and road haulage. By 1952/53 thrashing was going out. In 1959 John Boughton changed the company name to Agriculture Enterprises Ltd and in January 1978 let uncle George Haggar have the tractor as he had always worked it out of the Stevenage depot.
In 1952/53 the company had 52 thrashing sets working, 8 of these from the Stevenage depot
The tractor has had 2 owners since!!
